3 Situations In Which You Would Need a Roof Plumber

Fernando Silva

Plumbers are typically known for the work they do fixing leaks and bursts pipes, but rarely do most people think of them climbing on roofs to do their job. Well, a roof plumber does just that. For those who are not exactly sure what a roof plumber does, or why you would ever need one, here are some situations that may arise that will call for this kind of professional.

Your Roof Has Sprung a Leak

Roof leaks can result for a number of different reasons, such as a hailstorm, thunderstorm, fallen tree branch or general wear and tear.

The problem with a roof leak, is that if you don't handle it right away, it can grow exponentially, and cause flooding, which is a major expense. Roof plumbers will identify the source of a leak and determine if the leak can be patched. Or, you may need to get your roof replaced to fix the problem; a roof plumber could then advise you accordingly.

Your Roof Is Retaining Water

A roof plumber can install roof gutters to divert water during a storm so that your roof isn't susceptible to further leaking. Plumbers typically install what are known as K-style gutters.

These types of gutters look like the letter K when viewed from the side, and they also feature a straight edge on one end and curve edge on the other. K-style gutters are made from aluminium and are attached to downspouts that allow water to flow from the gutter down the spout, and out onto your driveway or lawn.

Your Roof Ventilation System Goes Awry

A roof plumber can repair the vents and restore their cooling properties. Similar to ductwork in a central air conditioning system, vents also feature ducts, and they can leak air for a number of reasons. When your roof vents leak, then moisture can collect around the vent pipes, which can then enter your attic through small cracks and holes.

A roof plumber can easily diagnose if you have an issue with the collar that anchors the base of the vent; they can tell if the seal is broken which would allow moisture to enter your home. In this case, a roof plumber will either have to seal the collar or replace it with a new one to fix the leak.

If you experience any of these issues, it's a safe call to contact resources like O'Boyles Roof Plumbing to maintain the integrity of your roof.

DIY Roof Repairs for Homeowners

Hi, welcome to my blog. My name is Tammy. A few years ago, my husband and I invested in a very old house. It was in a lovely location, but it needed a lot of love and attention. One of the biggest repair jobs was the roof. I had never climbed onto a roof before, but once I got up there, I loved it. My husband and I carried out DIY repair work and completely re-roofed the property. Since then, I have enjoyed carrying out maintenance work to keep the roof in excellent condition. I started this blog to share my knowledge about roofing with other people who might be in a similar situation.
